Spanish Mackerel invaded the area this weekend! Earlier in the week, the
> fish seemed concentrated in passes. Jigs, plugs, spoons, and live shrimp
> all fooled the macks, along with some bluefish. As the water warmed later
> in the week, the fish scattered out on the flats around both passes.
> Ladyfish are thick in Roberts Bay, along with a few pompano. Mangrove
> snapper and sheepshead took live shrimp in the Intercoastal around the
> mouth of Phillippi Cr. Pompano, ladyfish, bluefish, and mackerel are on
> the flats and in the channel around Marker #20 in Nokomis.

NATHAN MAROHN, 3 years old, caught and released his first fish - a pompano - on a jig fishing south of Stickney Pt. Bridge in Little Sarasota Bay. . fishing with his father, John and his Grandfather, Bill.....Nathan is from St. Joseph, Michigan. They also caught ladyfish on their 1/2 day trip renting a boat from CB's Saltwater Outfitters.

Bill McRoy, Chelsea MI caught ladyfish, bluefish and pompano on a pink
and chartreuse fly on the Marker 5 & 7 flat today. Lots of fish. we probably
had over 25 fish in 3 hours of fishing.

On Oct. 12, Wednesday, Bill Welling of Osprey caught and released 6 Snook, a 6lb. Redfish, a 3lb. Trout and Jacks

on Top water Zara Spooks and DOA CAL jigs fishing just north of Stickney Pt. Bridge and south to Blackburn Pt. Bridge.

Aledia Tush caught and released 31 3/4" Snook July 15, 2005 fishing with Capt. Bruce Burkhart and Kat Burkhart on a DOA CAL swimming grub - root beer with Chartruese tail. Fishing the intracoastal - Siesta Key/Sarasota during the CCA Inter-Chapter Challenge Tournament.

The :"Casual Lies" Team also had a 20' Redfish and 20 (yes, 20) small Snook - All released. Using DOA Glow Shrimp, too.

Also, fishing the Tournament was Capt. Eric Hernandez, Bill Welling and Mason Tush, III - all of Sarasota. They returned with Snook to 26", Redfish to 28" and Trout to 17". Fishing the Little Sarasota Bay to south of Blackburn Point Bridge.

CB's SALTWATER OUTFITTERS will be offering a ONE DAY ORVIS ENDORSED SALTWATER FLY CASTING SCHOOL with instructor CAPT. ED HURST at 1249 Stickney Pt. Rd. on Siesta Key. Young Zeke Blunt, 4 years old, fishing with his Grandpa, Earl Smith, caught and released his first Snook! fishing with shrimp in North Sarasota Bay.

Also,Young Savannah String caught and released her first Trout (by herself) fishing with Dad, Capt. Roy String, in Sarasota Bay.

BOB PARKER, of Sarasota, boated his First Tarpon on June 4, 2004 on a live greenback off Longboat Key! All by Himself!

Fishing for tarpon is wonderful and your first one is always remembered!

Trout have also been productive in Sarasota Bay this week.

out of Venice jumped tarpon off Casey Key on crabs today.

DANNY GRIMES(5/27), COLIN PEMBER (6/1), and BILL WELLING (5/28) all of Sarasota and CB's Staff boated and released their FIRST TARPON this past week!!!! on crabs from Point of Rocks - Siesta Key - and south to Casey Key.

YES, were are all proud and they are really Happy!

Dennis Perkins from Virginia caught and released Snook to 24", Trout to 18" and Ladyfish on Cottee Jigs and Exude RT Slugs off the docks in Roberts Bay - North Siesta Key with Captain Ryan Kaney out of CB's Saltwater Outfitters.

Tyler Underwood age 5 from Sarasota, father and Grandpa caught and released Trout and Ladyfish on live shrimp fishing the Middlegrounds and Radio Tower Flats
with Captain Ryan Kaney.

Mark Fichera and Guy Della-Penna from Sarasota caught Amerjack to 58 lbs. and Kingfish to 30 lbs. on blue runners at D-9.

This past week customers aboard Capt Jack Ryan's Sea Dog Charter boat out of CB's caught redfish, trout (out of season,released)in very shallow water in Sarasota Bay.

On deeper grass flats caught lots more trout to 19" jacks, ladyfish, and spanish mackerel. It made a lot of fun for the young and the not so young to have a great day on the bay.

On Nov. 16th Ron Stillman of Ohio and son, Jason visiting from Calif.
renting a CB's Boat caught and released 1 Redfish to 23"
and 16 Trout and some Ladyfish on white jigs just north of Midnight Pass/

10 year-old BRENDAN SMITHSON of Siesta Key released Snook by the Siesta Dr. Bridge fishing with shrimp.

October 29th

Chris Campbell of Sarasota while fishing with CAPT. RYAN KANEY out of CB's Saltwater Outfitters caught and released
Redfish to 24", Trout to 18" and Snook on RT Exude Mister Twister baits in North Sarasota Bay.

November 1st.

Doug Forde and J.C. Lundquist of Sarasota fishing with CAPT. ROY STRING caught
29 Kingfish to 26 lbs. and Mackeral to 5 lbs. live chumming 3 miles off Lido Key/Sarasota.

Also, good fishing off Point of Rocks/Siesta Key

Captain Jack Ryan of Sea Dog Charters out of CB's Saltwater Outfitters reporting good catches of Yellowtail, Mangrove and Lane Snappers on area ledges. Also good catches of Red Grouper and tons of sharks in 50' of water off Sarasota using heavy chumming which attracted a variety of game fish including little tunnies.

Allan Worms and Tom Cantillo from Sarasota, Fl. found the grouper!

20+ Red Grouper to 22"
1 Black Grouper 32"
6 Red Snapper
caught on Spanish Sardines and Squid about 20 miles off Big Pass in 85 ft. of water.

FISHING IS HOT!!

Danny Grimes of Sarasota/CB's Saltwater Outfitters caught a 42" 27 1/2 lb.
Cobia on 3/9/03 fishing with live shrimp off Crescent Beach - Siesta Key.

On 3/11/03, HERB FREY of Cincinnati, Ohio caught a 31 1/2" Snook (9lb. 2 0z.) and a 24" Speckled Trout on live shrimp wading the Ringling Flats.

On 3/11/03, Doug Forde of Sarasota, CB's Saltwater Outfitters, caught a 54"
Cobia cruising off Lido Key using white bait fishing with Capt. Roy String.

This past week guide Roy String has been getting trout to 3 lbs., Mackerel to 4 lbs., Pompano to 3 lbs. and Cobia fishing live bait and Cotee Jigs.

Have also been hearing lots of Sheepshead.

8 year old, Kyle Rivard with Dad, Greg, and Grandfather released Trout over 3 lbs. and lots and lots of Ladyfish (over 60 fish total!) with guide Roy String from CB's Saltwater Outfitters. Kyle and family are visiting from Grosse Point, Michigan.
The ACTION was south of Stickney Pt. Bridge between Marker 51 and Spanish Point on gold and rootbeer/gold tail Cotee Jigs.

Also, Point of Rocks , lots of Silver Trout and Whiting!

Feb. 3rd Marty Schreindorfer of Niagra on the Lake, Ontario caught 2 Redfish 18" and 25" WADING North Bay near Ringling Museum.

also, Jerry Kopstein of Windsor, Ontario (visiting Siesta Key) caught 1 redfish and 3 Sheepshead wading on shrimp and jigs.
Jerry also has been catching Whiting at Turtle Beach on Siesta Key.

Feb. 4th
Dave Miller and Doug Forde caught 3 Bass over 5lb., 1 over 6 lb. and 1 over 7lb. on
"flippin hawg callers" June Bug color at Lake Istapoga(sp.?)

Steven Hampton visiting from Indianapolis, Ind. caught and released 2 Sheepshead to 8 lbs., a redfish, black drum and ladyfish near Marker #51 on live shrimp fishing from a CB's Boat Rental.

Phylana and Mike Trent visiting from Peoria, Ill. have been catching Mangrove Snapper, Sheepshead, ladyfish, Black Drum and Jacks off the Siesta Key shoreline in Big Pass for the last 3-4 days on live shrimp.

KIERAN HILL (10years old) from North Hampton, England caught and released 13 mangrove snapper fishing with shrimp from docks just north of Stickney Pt. Bridge on siesta Key.

Sarasota limited out on Kingfish to 23" on Blue Runners at M16.

Paul Bedford and daughter, Sarah from Stafford, England have reported Flounder, Redfish, lots of Ladyfish, Jacks and Spanish Mackerel caught on live shrimp and pinfish fishing from the beach at Sunset Point at the north end of Siesta Key.

Jay Shelden of Sarasota caught Kingfish to 46" and Mackerel about 2 miles off Lido Key using Mann's Stretch 25 Lures.

Guide Roy String and Doug Forde of CB's Saltwater Outfitters, Sarasota caught several Snook to 15 lb. on the new "High Roller" lures south of Midnight Pass in Blackburn Bay.

On 10/26 DAN KIEFER and RICH KAPLAN of Sarasota caught a 35'" Redfish, Spanish Mackerel, Sharks and had a tarpon on for 5 jumps on Baitfish and Mirrolures off Point of Rocks, Siesta Key.

on 10/27 Danny Grimes, Calvin Serviss and Colin Pember of Sarasota and CB's Saltwater Outfitters caught Spanish Mackerel, Bonito and Kingfish on spoons and gold bombers off Siesta Key/Sarasota.

Fishing is GREAT!!!!

Tuesday (10/8) Troy Mattes and Doug Forde of Sarasota caught a 35" Snook, 5 Redfish to 25" and Trout to 18" on Green Mirrolure TOP DOG's in Sarasota Bay.

Bill Welling of Sarasota also on Tuesday caught 4 Kingfish to 14 lbs., a 6lb. Spanish Mackerel and Barracuda on Gold King Spoons using planers 2 miles off Venice.

Scott Roberts and family of Decatur, Illinois fishing with guide Jim Klopfer of CB's Saltwater Outfitters on Oct. 9th caught Pompano to 3lbs. in Big Pass on 1/2 oz. yellow jigs, Spanish Mackerel to 5 lbs. Point of Rocks south to Venice on small silver Clarkspoons and Mangrove Snapper to 2 lbs. on white bait.

Michael Bowers of Sarasota caught Mangrove Snapper and Black Drum to 12 lbs. at the Stickney Pt. Bridge on shrimp.

Capt. Jack Ryan of CB's Saltwater Outfitters on an evening Snook Trip lead his clients to Snook to 25" and ladyfish on live shrimp at the Stickney Point Bridge on 9/23.

Jeff Brue of Sarasota boated a 48" Sailfish 20 miles off Sarasota on live sardines on 9/22. Fishing with live sardines in Sarasota Bay and New Pass on 9/24, Jeff landed a 15lb. Tarpon, 5 Snook to 24" and Jacks to 5lb.
