Venice Florida Fishing
Report
The Tail Chaser Fleet has
had a great month fishing inshore and offshore charters. Our
Inshore team led by Capt. Chris
O’Neill has caught plenty of oversized Redfish, along with giant Snook that
have began their spring migration out of the rivers. Redfish have been
plentiful along the West Wall of the Myakka River, as well as the Cattle
Dock area of the river. The bar outside of Cape Haze has held multiple
species all month. The Snook bite has been insane, with most of Capt.
Chris’ guides using Tarpon gear to pull the monsters out of the structure.
The bait of choice has been pilchards and threadfins. Artificial will
produce, but live bait is the guarantee to giant fish. Tarpon, Tarpon,
Tarpon! The Tail Chaser Fleet boated over 40 Silver King Tarpon in the
month of April. The bite will only get better for the next two months, and
be steady through the summer. Tarpon are hungry to eat your larger
threadfins. Large schools have been running the bar along the east side of
Charlotte Harbor. The Offshore
captains have been finding major bites along the beaches and out to 150
feet. The Kings have been running within 1-15 miles of our beaches, along
with plenty of Spanish Mackerel. Grouper are found along the wrecks, and
have been smacking pinfish and threadfins fished on the bottom. Trolling
will also work well, over the wrecks. Chum heavy for the best results. If
you would like to experience some of this unbelievable action, give us a
call. We are excited about the new line-up of guides we have now, and look
forward to continued success. For the best fishing in the Venice Florida or
Charlotte Harbor area, spend a day with one our team of world-class guides.

Tail Chaser Charters Fishing Report
17 – 30 April, 2006
Fishing locally has been absolutely fantastic! This is a special time of year
for our area, in which you can take your pick for the species of fish you would
like to catch. Bait is everywhere and the fish are eating with the moving
tides. Our fleet of captains are reporting banner days on the water with
almost every charter. Large snook are staging around the passes, about to make
the big move to coastal waters. The redfish bite has been on fire around oyster
piles and along mangrove shorelines. Sea trout are all over the grass flats,
and are eager to take your live bait. The offshore/nearshore bite is
unbelievable with kingfish and spanish mackerel schooling throughout the
region. The mystical Giant Silver King Tarpon are have began to show in
Charlotte Harbor in huge numbers, and will be here for the next three months.

Tail Chaser Fishing Report for the week of 2-9 April 2006. Our 22 Full-Time
Captains have had a stellar week. We have boated Cobia in great numbers just
west of the Venice Jetty. Our Inshore Captains have had an amazing run of
oversized redfish in the shallows, as well as trophy sized Snook hanging around
the shallow sandy flats of Charlotte Harbor. The Sheepshead bite has finally
slowed after consistant limit catches for the past two months. KINGFISH are in
a huge abundance a mile offshore of the Venice Beach. Capt. Chris along with
two of this week's guests boated 30 Kings and broke off another 20 in a four
hour trip. Football field size school's of greenies are everywhere off the
beach. Expect to catch limitless amounts of ladyfish. The Spanish Mackeral
bite is also very consistant off of the beach. Most captains are throwing
diving plugs into the bait schools, with a small wire leader to prevent loss.
The bite is the best we have seen this year, either inshore or offshore. Give
us a call and we will get you on the water catching fish. We now have the
largest fleet of full-time captains on the Gulf of Mexico. Give us a call or
visit the website. www.tailchaserfishgear.com or (941) 486-9702.
Fishing Report 5-12 Mar 06:
The past week has been fantastic with the Tail Chaser Fishing Fleet. Our
captains have landed plenty of quality redfish, trout, sheepshead and snook from
Sanibel Island to Tampa Bay. Most fish have been hooked with artificials,
including Gulp shrimp, Exude darts, and other plastics. Dead shrimp works very
well along structure for all species. The Venice Jetty areas of Donna and
Roberts bays are stacked up with redfish this week. Give us a call or visit the
website and we will put you on fish. (941) 486-9702 or

Tail Chaser Charters Fishing Report
from the Venice Jetty, local ICW, Lemon Bay and Charlotte Harbor, Florida from
18-30 October. The past week has been simply fantastic on the Tail Chaser. On
all five trips this week were to Charlotte Harbor, and plenty of quality fish
were caught. The Redfish are staging hard inshore in preparation for the fall
months. The water temp has dropped into the 80's, causing increased overall
activity. Live shrimp is the bait of choice for Redfish. Snook will hit white
bait or shrimp throughout the day/night. Plenty of trout are schooling around
Charlotte Harbor, and can easily be caught on artificial or live baits. The Tail
Chaser has boated over 200 fish this week, and that number will continue to
increase over the next two months. Plenty of Anglers are doing well wade fishing
at Blackburn Point in Osprey. Live shrimp is the ticket for snook at dusk. The
fishing will only get better the next two months. Bait of the week is hand
picked monster shrimp from Big Bite Bait and Tackle, located at 900 S. Tamiami
Trail, in Nokomis. We have dates available for day or night trips in October and
November on the Tail Chaser, so give us a call @ (941) 270-7867 or check out the

from the Venice Jetty, local ICW, Lemon Bay and Charlotte Harbor, Florida from
29 Sept - 6 Oct. The past week has been simply fantastic on the Tail Chaser. On
all four trips this week to Charlotte Harbor, plenty of fish were caught. I
would like to mention a trip to Charlotte Harbor this past Tuesday, I was
fortuanate enough to spend the day with Peter and Keith from the UK. The
gentleman boated well over 50 fish of a variety of species from Redfish, Snook
to Trout. All fish were caught on hand picked shrimp from Big Bite Tackle in
Nokomis. Lemon Bay continues to hold red tide in spaces, but it is easily
avoidable. Just run the boat around and look for baitfish. If you find bait,
chances are the red tide is not present and fish can be caught at that location.

Tail Chaser Charters Charlotte Harbor Fishing Report
Includes the Venice Jetty, local ICW, Lemon Bay south to Charlotte Harbor,
Florida from 20-27 September. The past week has been simply fantastic on the
Tail Chaser. On a trip to Charlotte Harbor last Saturday, I was fortuanate
enough to spend the day with Mr. Allen, a world famous wildlife artist from the
Keys. He boated a beautiful 8lb. Redfish, and a 27" Snook, and plenty of 20+
inch Trout. That same client called back for a tuesday trip along with a guest
and both gentleman had another banner day with 20+ reds and various other
species. Mr. "G" had a banner day on Sunday, catching a 34" Redfish, plenty of
trout and various other species. All fish were caught on hand picked shrimp from
Big Bite Bait and Tackle in Nokomis. Lemon Bay continues to hold red tide in
spaces, but it is easily avoidable. Just run the boat around and look for
baitfish. If you find bait, chances are the red tide is not present and fish can
be caught at that location. I continue to slay Snook at the Nokomis bridge area
at night, despite the red tide. The fishing will only get better the next two
months. We have dates available for day or night trips in September and October
on the Tail Chaser, so give us a call @ (941) 270-7867 or check out the website

Tail Chaser Fishing Report from the Venice Jetty, local ICW, South to Lemon
Bay and Charlotte Harbor 15-22 September. The past week has been simply
fantastic on the Tail Chaser. On a trip to Charlotte Harbor on Saturday, I was
fortunate enough to spend the day with Mr. Allen, a world famous wildlife artist
from the Keys. He boated a beautiful 8lb. Redfish, and a 27" Snook, and plenty
of 20+ inch Trout. That same client called back for a Tuesday trip along with a
guest and both gentleman had another banner day with 20+ reds and various other
species. Charlotte Harbor is blowing up with large redfish, and slot sized
Snook. The larger fish were caught on plus size pinfish. A constant bite can be
had with live or fresh dead shrimp free-lined or with a small amount of split
shot just above the hook. Plastics did not produce well this week, which is
probably due to the incredible amount of bait that has invaded the Harbor. Lemon
Bay continues to hold red tide in spaces, but it is
easily avoidable. Just run the boat around and look for baitfish. If you find
bait, chances are the red tide is not present and fish can be caught at that
location. I continue to slay Snook at the Nokomis bridge area at night, despite
the red tide. The fishing will only get better the next two months. We
have dates available for day or night trips in September and October on the Tail
Chaser, so give us a call @ (941) 270-7867 or check out the website @

Tail Chaser Fishing Report from Nokomis to Charlotte Harbor, Florida - 8 thru
15 September. Look out for the red tide that has picked up momentum from
Sarasota Bay down to Stump Pass. For now, Lemon Bay is clear for the most part.
This past week has been simply spectacular for early staging Redfish, and some
hungry Trout. We boated some monster Trout full of roe on two trips. There are
plenty of rat Reds around the Englewood bridge and scattered on the eastern
shores of Lemon Bay, and we managed to get a bull red within five feet while
wade fishing with extremely light tackle/line. Low tide will be mid too late day
all week. Night fishing is hot between the Nokomis bridge and the Venice Jetty.
You will need to fish deeper with the red tide. Fish the lighted docks and have
some fun. I will reveal my secret artificial bait that knocks them dead night
after night. Use a 3 inch "new penny" gulp shrimp, with a 1/8 oz chartruese jig
head. And my secret weapon with that rig is to use a small rattle embedded into
the shrimp body cavity. Fish this lure in the shadows and hang on. I normally
outfish others two to one with this set up. See, not all captains keep all their
secret weapons a "secret". Get out there and have some fun. We have dates
available for September, so give us a call.
Tail Chaser Fishing Report- 29 Aug - 5 Sep. GET ON THE WATER! The storm has
passed and the water is clearing up. Hopefully, most of the Red Tide has
dissapated as well. I am heading out early tommorrow to find out. Typically,
after a storm, the bite goes crazy. I recommend tucking in behind a wind
break and finding flat water. Reds and Snook continue to hang around the
ledges. I fished 6 days last week. My conclusion, go as early as you can
possibly get on the water and find your spot. You have a 1-2 hour window at
sunrise to fish your favorite oyster bar, before the redfish head to deeper
cooler water. I am specifically speaking about schooling reds. The inshore
waters are way over 90 degrees now, and the fish have a hard time tolerating
the shallows at peak sun periods. This morning it was utter madness tossing
the Heddon "super spook" topwater lure. This thing is large, noisy, chrome
color and deadly. It plenty of various species without problem. Also, the
1/4 oz. Gold or Silver Johnson Silver Minnow Spoon is down right deadly. My
lure of the week for sure. From 10am until 5pm, fish shorlines, channels, or
deeper mangrove shorlines. Live bait continues to produce. Look for bait,
and you will find fish. GO FISHING!
